                                Rebuilding Days

Rebuilding Days occur twice a year - April and October). 500 to 600 volunteers comprised of individuals from churches, businesses, civic organizations, and other philanthropic organizations come together to work on 25 to 35 homes in the community over the course of one day. Projects range from roof repair and replacement to handicap ramp construction. Team Captains are responsible for evaluating the repair needs, submitting a materials list, recruiting team members, designating responsibilities for team members, ensuring the home repairs are properly completed, etc. Individuals and teams are encouraged to volunteer for Rebuilding Days.

                                Individual Response Action (I.R.A.)

Individual Response Actions occur throughout the year for homeowners in dire need of assistance. Dates and times for I.R.A.s are more flexible. Smaller volunteer teams can typically complete an I.R.A. in three to four hours. Individuals and teams are encouraged to contact Christmas In Action of Spartanburg's office if interested in completing an I.R.A.

Christmas In Action's NEW Young And Old Project

Christmas In Action is working with five local universities to identify students that are interested in learning various home improvement skills and completing home repair projects in Spartanburg County communities. Lowe’s Home Improvement has partnered with Christmas In Action to provide home repair training courses for our Young And Old Project student volunteers. The home repair training courses will focus on a variety of home improvement techniques ranging from the proper use of hand and power tools to roofing replacement and repair. After volunteers are trained in a specific area of home improvement, they will receive hands on experience during a supervised repair project in the community. Christmas In Action’s Young And Old Project allows a younger generation to learn home improvement techniques, improve Spartanburg County communities by providing safety and independence for an older generation, and increases awareness and understanding of our senior population living in substandard housing.
